The Bible says that as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God (Romans 8:14). How can we as Christians live a life where we are constantly led by the Spirit of God? The first thing we need to do is to slow down our inner life. If we have tensions and turmoil inside we cannot expect God to lead us because we are being so full of ourselves. The sign of being led by the Spirit of God is total peace and assurance in the heart. When we take decisions from a point of rest we can have the faith that God is behind us. God will not be there where there is confusion and lack of harmony and all sorts of discord. The Bible says, “Be still and know that I am God” In order to be led by the Spirit, we have to be like Mary who sat at the feet of Jesus to listen to Him. Martha on the other hand was busy doing the work of the Lord. It seemed the right thing to do to her natural mind but God wants us to receive from Him first. God’s work and any work that we do has to be done by the power of God. If today we are confused about our lives then we need to give up what we are doing and seek the Lord in stillness. At the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus felt troubled in heart due to His impending crucifixion, He fell on His knees three times to talk to His Father. After the third time He came out a Man at peace knowing the will of God. With calmness He was able to answer His accusers because He was now being led by the Spirit of God. One thing that I have learned is that God is usually not in a hurry to do many things that we consider important. God works at a pace that brings skill to the work at hand. There is a time to be fast and there are times when you have to be slow but when we catch the frequency of God it will all be done with joy and peace.
